This year's game is called Logomotion. Logomotion is played on a 27' x 54' carpeted field. Other field elements include four 3 x 3 scoring grids reaching 111" at their highest points, and four towers reaching 122 inches high. The game pieces are similar to pool tubes, however, they are the shapes of the FIRST logo: triangle, circle, square.
Scoring is done on a grid of 3 x 3 scoring pegs. Each of the two alliances (three teams each) has two scoring grids, located directly in front of the alliance stations. The area infront of the scoring grid is a safe zone, and opponent robots cannot enter that area. Each alliance also has two towers, which come into play during the endgame.
Points are given for each tube hung, with two points for a tube on the bottom row of scoring pegs, 4 points for the middle row, and 6 points for the top row. Autonomous mode (the first 15 seconds of the match, where robots are on "auto drive") is played with the same point system, however robots place yellow, circle "ubertubes" on the pegs, and they double the score of any tube placed over it during teleoperated period. A bonus is also given for when tubes are hung in the order of the FIRST logo (triangle, circle, square), and the entire score of that row is doubled.
The last ten seconds of the match is the end game, where teams must deploy a minibot onto the towers, and the minibot must climb the top of the tower in under ten seconds. Scoring for this part of the match is a race, where the first team to reach the top gets 30 points, the second gets 20 points, the third gets 15 points, and the fourth gets 10 points.
