Team 223 is back from the New Jersey Regional, and we are very happy with our performance. After a long Friday, working hard to get our robot inspected and competition-ready, and giving our driver, Curley, some much needed practice time, we took the field for qualification matches on Saturday. Our first match was the highest scoring and most exciting one at the regional up to that point: our alliance worked together extremely well, winning 7-0. In our second match, we were paired with teams 25 and 41, and set a national high score of 11 which lasted for most of the day. For a time we were also ranked #2 in the standings. At the end of qualification matches on Sunday morning, we were a little out of the top 8 teams, so we didn't get to pick our own alliance. However, we were the first pick for the #7 alliance, captained by Team 1279, Cold Fusion. We were joined by Team Mercury (1089), combining to create Team Thermometer. Some bad luck kept us from the semifinals, but we are still very proud of our accomplishments and are really looking forward to Philly.
Currently, we are reevaluating certain aspects of our robot, developing a hanging mechanism, and perfecting our strategy and scouting. We are also building a practice robot, finishing our pit, and making more buttons. A special thanks goes out to Team 1676, the Pascack Pi-oneers, who have lent us half of their practice field. Good luck in Virgina guys!!!
Our next competition will take place on March 25 - 27 at Drexel University in Philadelphia, PA. You can find more information about it here. If you are going to be there, please let us know! For our fans at home, there is not yet an official site where you will be able to view the webcasted event. However, there is a list of all webcasts here and hopefully one will be made available.
After Philly, we have a week to get start preparing for Atlanta, then spring break, and then on Wednesday April 14, we will be off to Atlanta for Championships! The competition will take place in the Georgia Dome from April 15 - 17.
